GRIMP
'The EH Team'
Grimpday is an elite, annual international rope rescue competition, often called the "Olympics of high-angle rescue," where specialized teams from fire departments, police, and the military compete in complex, hazardous scenarios. Founded in Namur, Belgium, it tests technical skills, speed, and teamwork under high-pressure, realistic conditions.
WHAT IS
GRIMPDAY
In 2024, a group of dedicated rope enthusiasts (rope nerds) united with a shared ambition and dream: To travel to Geneva, Switzerland in June of 2025, to compete in Grimpday! Our goal was not only to compete, but to represent our beautiful country, Canada! Assembling the team was simple, everyone involved shared the same unwavering passion and drive for rope rescue and competition.
WHO IS
'THE EH TEAM'
​We had to select a team name that would represent every member, capture our collective personalities, and reflect our Canadian roots. Although not all team members are employees of Valor, the sense of camaraderie and brotherhood was undeniable. From this spirit, ‘The EH Team’ was born, a playful nod to both our Canadian identity and the inclusive, welcoming fun nature of our group.
CHOOSING OUR NAME
Several members brought prior experience from previous Grimp and rescue competitions, which made transitioning into a structured training program a natural progression. Our greatest hurdle was finding time in our busy schedules to bring the whole team together for dedicated training sessions.​ We recognize the importance of team development and strive for multiple training sessions leading up to competition. Of course, training a few days prior to the competition in the host country is always an advantage!
We are driven by a love for training hard, enjoying the process, and sharing good times together, including the occasional cold beer after a productive session. For us, ropes and beer make a perfect combination, embodying both our dedication and our sense of fun, capturing the essence of our team’s spirit!
