MINE RESCUE
This course is designed to prepare your Mine Rescue Team for the highly skilled, fast paced competition environment and/or for rapid response utilizing your company’s emergency response plans. Structured to accelerate the natural learning curve, this program provides guidance through realistic and challenging rescue scenarios. Participants will develop fundamental competencies of high-performance teams through practical exposure. Areas of competency include confined space, hazmat, industrial fire, medical and high angle rope rescue. CONFINED SPACE RESCUE
The Confined Space Rescue course introduces the skills needed to safely and efficiently perform confined space rescues in industrial and municipal environments. We review theoretical knowledge such as OHS requirements, identification of confined spaces, permitting, hazards associated when entering or working in confined space, atmospheric monitoring, types of breathing apparatus and methods to safely retrieve occupants and unresponsive personnel. Practical training will involve PPE, patient packaging, artificial high directionals (tripods), davit arms, lock out/tag out (LOTO), various rope rescue systems and techniques. This course is offered in Operations and Technician levels. Students are led through developmental learning concepts allowing them to learn by actively engaging in activities through a hands-on approach. Some time is spent in the classroom for basic fundamentals such as legislative requirements, however majority of learning comes from specific onsite scenarios. There will be emphasis on leadership, team response, scene assessments and deployment. Our instructors are continuously evolving to ensure you can utilize modern techniques to be successful in any emergency situation. We will progressively build on the basic skills learnt in the classroom and allow rescuers to apply those skills in technically challenging scenarios! RESCUE LEADERSHIP
What does it take to be an effective leader in a high pressure time sensitive situation? Our Rescue Leadership course covers all aspects of effective leadership, from clear and concise communication, decision making under pressure, implementing strategies and team briefings for quick response and informed decisions, to risk management, resource allocation and delegation of people and equipment. Strong leadership skills are paramount for a safely executed response. STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE
This course is designed for firefighters wanting to expand their knowledge in the vast world of structural collapse. Participants will exceed NFPA 1006 Awareness level and focus learnings on Operations level requirements. It will prepare firefighters to respond to structural damage or collapse incidents, such as vehicle impacts, weather-related failures, fires, and construction accidents. This course focuses on equipment checklists, hands-on training, and assessments to ensure firefighters are well-prepared to assist in a structural collapse emergency. Our instructors work with your department to assess your teams’ capabilities for response with your current cache. We provide both current and modern training techniques that will enhance responders’ safety through comprehensive understanding of the many facets of structural collapse. Valor can offer advanced courses, such as Operations/Technician Structural Collapse Rescue, surpassing NFPA 1006 standards. Additionally, we can facilitate refresher training for rescuers who are currently qualified or trained and wish to enhance their skills and challenge their team.
ROPE RESCUE
Our Rope Rescue course is offered in Rope Operations and Rope Technician level and exceeds NFPA 1006 standards. Students are led through developmental learning concepts allowing them to learn by actively engaging in activities through a hands-on approach. Some time is spent in the classroom for basic fundamentals such as knot craft, equipment selection and inspection, anchoring, forces and mechanical advantage systems, however majority of learning comes from real world scenarios. There will be emphasis on leadership, team response, scene assessments and deployment. Our instructors are continuously evolving to ensure you can explore the latest equipment and utilize modern techniques to be successful in any emergency situation. We will progressively build on the basic skills learnt in the classroom and allow rescuers to apply those skills in technically challenging scenarios! ERT / TACTICAL
Our ERT (Emergency Response Team) / Tactical program is designed to provide an external assessment of your team’s skills pertaining to your industry specific response plans. Valor Rescue instructors are certified Tactical Rappel Masters and well versed in emergency procedures. Through mock drills and simulations, we evaluate several key components and provide you with a post-emergency evaluation. Through the after-action review process, we discuss the effectiveness of the response, what went well, lessons learned and continuous improvement strategies. Areas of focus are communication effectiveness, coordination and collaboration, leadership, decision making, response times, adherence to protocols and problem-solving skills. If required, our technical document writer can assist in modifying ERP’s, SOP’s and all documented procedures pertaining to your specific application. CUSTOM ROPE COURSES
This course was developed to offer our clients the opportunity to build a completely customized Rope Rescue course. Whether you are an active Response Team that would like on site training to meet or exceed the specific requirements of your operation, or a company looking to train employee’s for a particular response plan, this course is for you! Heck, if you are a group of rope nerds like us and want to have a complete custom rope experience, we got you covered! Can you tell this is one of our favorite courses! The foundation for this course is NFPA 1006 Rope Operations / Technician, however testing is not required. We simply build on your previous knowledge! MARINE RESCUE
The Marine Rope Rescue Course includes a plethora of amazing rope rescue techniques. On ship training will include anchoring, edge protection, confined space rescue, rappelling, ascending, rapid patient access, hybrid skate blocks, sloping highlines, artificial high directionals and more. Whether you are extricating from the depths of the hull, rescuing a patient from the mast or executing a tactical response, our training will ensure your crew is prepared for any emergency situation. This course is meant to maximize time spent on rope so you can develop new competencies to increase proficiency as a rescuer. Preparedness, leadership and timely execution will be equally important. FALL PROTECTION
This fall protection training aims to equip you with the knowledge necessary to mitigate fall hazards and safeguard yourself and others from serious injury. The development of this course was guided by Alberta legislation (Section 140 of Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety Code), along with CSA, ANSI, CEN, and industry standards. This course prioritizes the safety of individuals working at height in the field.
